Thanks to a grant from the Fund for Shared Insight, Our House is part of a national initiative to establish robust feedback loops between nonprofits and those they serve. Our House is committed to regularly surveying our clients to measure their satisfaction with our programs and to seek their input on program development. Client survey results are used by Our House to assess and improve our programs, and they are used by the Fund for Shared Insight to develop benchmarks that will allow nonprofits to compare themselves to similar organizations across the country.

To date, almost 1,000 surveys have been taken by Our House clients during our biannual “Speak Up Week” events. During Speak Up Week, clients from each of our program areas have the opportunity to tell us how we can improve our programs. For one week, twice a year, Our House team members and volunteers staff “Speak Up Spots” in high-traffic areas around campus in an effort to hear from as many of our clients as possible.  Clients are integrated into every aspect of the process, including interpreting survey results.  The Our House Community Council, a representative committee of Our House clients, reviews the survey responses and makes recommendations based on those responses to the program managers and leadership team at Our House. To complete the process, program managers report back the survey results and any programmatic changes made in response to them at special events and through handouts available to all clients.
It is part of our mission to empower our clients to actively participate in their community. Through Speak Up Week, we empower them to participate in the Our House community.
