The Communications VISTA collaborates with the development team to implement marketing and communications strategies to raise awareness of the mission, programs, services, and events of Our House; designs and distributes media products for Our House, including websites, newsletters, brochures, reports, posters, emails, social media, and other media; utilizes graphic design software and tools to develop high-quality printed and digital publications; develops images and content to update and maintain the Our House website; develops systems for user-friendly maintenance of communications tools (website, email, social media, and more) by Our House staff and VISTA; takes quality digital photographs and processes/edits them for use in communications materials; collects details of Our House stories and clients for use in media materials; and develops written content for Our House publications.
What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national community service program with the aim of expanding and strengthening the administrative, organizational, and financial capacity of anti-poverty organizations. VISTA Members commit to one year of full-time service, for which they receive a modest living stipend. At the conclusion of a successful term of service, VISTA Members are eligible for either a Segal Education Award or a cash payment.
Candidates must be passionate about serving the homeless in Central Arkansas. Other requirements include a college degree and the ability to commit to one year of service (August 12th 2014 to August 15th 2015) at Our House with no outside employment.
