The Community Engagement VISTA serves in three areas.
Fundraising/Outreach Support: The Community Engagement VISTA coordinates fundraising events sponsored by outside partners; helps to spread the word about Our House by coordinating and delivering tours, presentations, and other outreach functions with corporations, congregations, partner agencies, and more; contributes to United Way fundraising campaigns by making presentations to local companies and by other activities; and provides support to Our House fundraising events and other development activities.
Partner Support: The Community Engagement VISTA coordinates partnerships with outside agencies; provides support to program staff in developing Memoranda of Understanding with outside partners; coordinates recognition activities for Our House partners including an annual appreciation event; maintains detailed contact information about partnering agencies.
Social Media: The Community Engagement VISTA coordinates Our House’s social media communications, including Facebook, Twitter, and more; engages with Our House team members to develop and distribute social media content; and coordinates with Communications VISTA and other team members on communication strategies.
What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national community service program with the aim of expanding and strengthening the administrative, organizational, and financial capacity of anti-poverty organizations. VISTA Members commit to one year of full-time service, for which they receive a modest living stipend. At the conclusion of a successful term of service, VISTA Members are eligible for either a Segal Education Award or a cash payment.
Candidates must be passionate about serving the homeless in Central Arkansas. Other requirements include a college degree and the ability to commit to one year of service (August 12th 2014 to August 15th 2015) at Our House with no outside employment.
