Jada is a mother of five whose marriage ended in 2024. For about a month, she and her children lived in her car, but at the urging of her mother she came to Our House in April 2024. She and her family were only the second family to live in our new Mabee House.
Her young children were able to immediately enroll in our expanded Bright Beginnings early childhood center, and her older children were able to enroll in Our Club. With care for her children secured, Jada was able to get the support she needed, both from our mental health team and from our Career Center. Jada enrolled in our job training program, where she was able to get experience working in our resale store, after which she was able to get a steady job as a bus driver, making good wages. Income from her job allowed her to find a great apartment for her family, which they were able to move into in March 2025, less than a year after coming to Our House. Her children continue to attend Bright Beginnings and Our Club, and she stays connected with her case manager, and she is focused on building a new stable life for her family, while also working towards new goals, including completing her education, and building a new career in a caring profession.
Jada’s success is due to her own hard work, but she also gives credit to the support she received from Our House. “It’s a great program. It’s a great place to be. It helps people get on their feet.”
