Almost two years ago,
Nichol was no longer able to juggle her full-time work as a nurse while also
coordinating care for her twins, Nicholas and Noah, who are both dually
diagnosed with autism and behavioral issues. Nichol left her job to become her
son’s full-time caregiver, but without a steady income, her family was forced
to move into an extended stay motel. Nichol worked odd jobs to
try to meet her families’ financial needs, and in her search for additional
supportive services, she found Our House. Working closely with her case manager
in our homelessness prevention program, Nichol was able to receive help finding
housing and transportation, coordinating medical care, and seeking out other
community resources to ensure that she and her family would find stability.
With this additional support, Nichol was able to return to work full-time in
the medical field, save up money for her own car, advocate for her boys to
receive the services they need to thrive, and move her family into their new
home.
We are also very exited to say that one of Nichol’s
sons has just been officially approved to enter Conway Human Development Center
where he can receive the full array of services and care that Nichol has been
seeking!
