Reggie came to the Our House Career Center in January 2021, after COVID-19-related layoffs at his previous job. Having previously stayed at Our House as a resident in 2018, he was familiar with the services he could receive such as job search assistance and childcare. As a custodial parent to three children, Reggie enrolled in our Job Trainee Program, funded by the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, where he mans the guard shack on campus.
While Reggie works in the guard shack, taking temperatures and doing security checks for new clients, his daughter does her schoolwork as part of the all-day programming offered by Our Club during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to being a job trainee, Reggie and his family are part of our homelessness prevention program, CAFSI, where he can access other services to provide stability for his family, such as a pathway to rebuild his credit and getting his criminal record expunged in order to get his voting rights back. Currently, Reggie is enrolled in a medical administrator assistant certification course that he found through the Career Center. He hopes to take his new skills to the VA where, as a retired Army Ranger, Reggie is proud to support other veterans!
