Brighter Side: Good News in Arkansas

THV Channel 11 News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Too often we report the negative news, but great things are happening in your community each day.

Here’s a look at a few stories that are on The Brighter Side

Arkansas’ own Cody Belew rose to fame on NBC’s The Voice because of his big voice and personality.

Now you’re invited to be a part of Cody’s new music video shoot for his upcoming single, “Say Love”.

Be at the Heifer Village on Saturday at 2 p.m. to be a part of music history. All you have to do is buy a T-shirt at the event, wear it during the video and sing along with Cody to help end hunger and poverty around the world.

And watch THV 11 Monday morning to see Cody live in the studio!

And in other good news, Our House threw a thank-you party for their volunteers and service partners who carry out their mission of supporting working homeless to achieve success in the workforce.

“Partners in the House” was a fun afternoon of barbecue, door prizes, games and even a photo booth.

“These are congregations, and corporate supporters who give their time and service and money to our house to help us serve the working homeless,” says Georgia Mjartan with Our House.

Our House provides housing, job training, education, free childcare and summer youth programs. To learn more, volunteer or donate, clickhere.

And finally, beauty pageants may be traditionally for girls, but tonight some senior boys are hitting the runway.

Beebe High School’s senior class will host the annual Badger Babes beauty pageant at 7 p.m. in the district’s auditorium. The cost is $5 for 3rd grade and above.

All proceeds go to Project Graduation, a drug-free, smoke-free and alcohol-free celebration held for Beebe High seniors after graduation.

THV 11’s Tom Brannon will be emceeing the event and Alyse Eady will be a judge.
