Leah moved into her own apartment in April 2010 after a ten-month residence at Our House Shelter. Through the HPRP program Leah received assistance with her utility deposit for electricity and full rental assistance for three months. Leah was able to move into a neighborhood that is walking distance to her son’s school and very near her job. Leah also re-enrolled at Philander Smith College where she is studying biology with the intention of graduating in 2011. Upon graduation, Leah hopes to earn more money as a researcher and will consider going on to medical school.
