In hopes of bringing attention to the homeless community and the hardships that follow, Our House in Little Rock has produced a twelve-part documentary series called Project Voice.

Project Voice features 12 Our House clients detailing their personal stories while offering a window into issues of poverty and homelessness.

Channel 7 spoke with, Joel Williams, one of the 12 and he said Our House has truly changed his life.

“I was working on a political campaign up in New Hampshire, after that ended I went down to Florida…spent some time with my son…I have a 4-year-old down in Florida and so things just didn’t work out for me the best in Florida…my mom is here,” said Williams.

Williams, who has found a better way of life, telling Channel 7 he is now in the process of becoming a Little Rock Police officer has called Our House a home for the past five months.

“They let me bring my son up for the summer which they show in the film…so um…that was huge for me, I’m a part of the job training program and so I do the grounds keeping here…here on site…so I get to learn a lot of new job skills,” added Williams.

Our House services 1,500 clients a year, each one with a unique, but relatable story said the filmmaker who worked on project voice.

“Stories told by people actually living them and so I think that’s one of the things that Project Voice attempts to do to tell these stories not from the outside looking in,” said Zachary Crow, Project Voice Filmmaker.
