Sometimes a perfect storm of circumstances lead to unexpected homelessness. Greg never thought he’d be checking in to a shelter, but when a combination of divorce and a disability that made working difficult collided, Greg came to Our House. Greg was struggling to do the movement and heavy lifting he was used to, so a job training position as a cashier at the Our House Resale Store was the perfect fit. Though Greg didn’t have cashier experience, the team at the store worked with him, and he is now developing valuable customer service skills for a future job! When Greg needed it, Our House helped direct him to a recovery center to get clean and when he was ready, his position at the store was waiting for him to return. Greg is now living in chem free housing, and utilizes our Public Health AmeriCorps members for individualized counseling to stay on the right path!
