The temperature was pleasant, skies were clear and the lawn and gardens were lush for Dinner on the Grounds, held May 5 at Terry House. The festive affair was a fundraiser for Our House, which supports the working homeless in central Arkansas.

Guests dined on catfish, baked chicken, green beans, potato salad, hush puppies, cornbread salad and herbed biscuits. For dessert they could choose honey lavender ice cream or chocolate sorbet from Loblolly Creamery or from a variety of cakes and moon pies made by Hannah Lavender. Tables were covered in white cloths with arrangements of white hydrangeas and roses.

Musical entertainment was by Lagniappe. Guests could also watch artist Lyuba Bogan as she painted the scene. Her children, Sasha and Katya, were alongside her, also making art.

The Kurrus Family — Ginny and Baker Kurrus and their daughters Sarah Kurrus Bemberg and Madeline Kurrus Moore — were event chairmen. About 600 attended, raising more than $270,000 for Our House.
