Local Shelter Gets Creative

KARKĀ Channel 4

LITTLE ROCK, AR – A local shelter for the working homeless is teaching classic plays to its residents and raising money at the same time.

“Shakespeare at the Shelter” is a chance for current and former residents at Our House to take center stage.

The group spent the past seven week practicing every Sunday. This was their final weekend practice before showtime.

“Just remember not to be so nervous,” says performer Derrick Beasley. ” [I] Pretty much got my lines down but when you actually get on stage and everything, you might have a little stage fright.”

The event is a great opportunity for residents of Our House to help raise money for the shelter. The funds raised this year will go toward new furniture.

Performances will take place Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased atĀ www.ourhouseshelter.org.
