Our House Joins Little Rock Chamber of Commerce

Our House recently joined the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce to build on already strong ties with the central Arkansas business community. As a nonprofit whose mission is centered around the importance of full-time employment for families that are struggling to overcome homelessness, local companies have a critically important role to play in our work. In 2015 alone, Our House helped 499 homeless and near-homeless adults find full-time jobs, with 288 different central Arkansas employers. Local companies helped make this possible not just by hiring our clients, but by actively participating in our Career Center programs: conducting practice job interviews, facilitating resume workshops, conducting job skills classes, and more. In turn, Our House is able to provide local companies with assistance in screening and recruiting potential applicants, and we also provide ongoing support to our clients after they land a job to help them succeed in the workforce.

Our Career Center just reopened after a $1 million renovation, and we now have the facilities, the team, and the strategy in place to make an even deeper impact in the lives of our clients. We are seeking local companies to become partners in our work: hiring our clients, honing our Career Center programming, and helping hundreds of adults build a better life for themselves and their families. For more information, contact Breanne McClendon, Career Center Manager, at 501—374-7383 ext 210 or breanne@ourhouseshelter.org.
