United Way’s 2012 Campaign Kick-Off is scheduled for Wednesday. The public is invited to enjoy free hot dogs, and ice-cream while visiting informational booths about the different service agencies the organization supports.

It begins at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dickey-Stephens Park. It goes until 1 p.m. Heart of Arkansas United Way supports 34 health and human service agencies. Each of them will have booths at the event.

United Way President John Nazzaro said a successful campaign program is important to the quality of life in Central Arkansas. Nazzaro said last year they raised more than $4.2 million. He hopes they raise even more this year. “Local health and human service agencies, such as the Ronald McDonald House, American Red Cross, Camp Aldersgate, Our House and the Arkansas Foodbank Network, rely on United Way funds to carry out their missions,” Nazzaro said.

The funds help people with disabilities, low-income seniors, low-income seniors, disadvantaged youth, families-in-crisis, survivors of domestic violence, and many others.
